This lovely mum shares her birth story of her induction at St James’ Hospital in Leeds. By her own admission, she had a lot of birth fear during her pregnancy and came to me for a short hypnobirthing course for the essentials she needed as she got close to her due date. Her story if proof that although we recommend doing a hypnobirthing course early so you have lots of time to practice techniques and embed your learning, it is never too late to do any birth preparation. Here is her story…

I had always been terrified of the idea of childbirth so I went to Franki to get some help with breathing techniques and calming methods.

For my own birth I had an induction and having heard nothing but horror stories about inductions I was extremely nervous going in.

However, having had the session with Franki to look at breathing techniques and how to cope with contractions, I felt so much calmer and was able to manage my birth so much better.

I was also able to have a really open conversation around pain relief, which really helped me.

I had an epidural but I was able to cope with a really low dosage so I could still feel my contractions and when to push, so I felt like I had real control over the situation and could stay calm.

I look back on my whole birth experience really fondly and I know the session with Franki really helped me keep a much more positive, relaxed mindset throughout.

You only hear the horror stories of birth but even though it was hard, I can honestly say I felt so empowered and strong.

Congratulations on the birth of your lovely little Christmas baby!

If you too feel like you are scared of giving birth and want some help to manage that and get yourself ready for labour, my group hypnobirthing courses are every month or you can book a private hypnobirthing course here.
